The 174th winner of the St Leger, held on Saturday 9th September 1950 over 1 mile 6 furlongs and 132 yards of Town Moor, was Scratch, a chestnut colt by Pharis out of Orlamonde, owned by M Marcel Boussac. A field of 15 runners contested the race which was worth £9,750. (Equivalent to £316,900 in 2017)
